Scouting that weighs the person as well as the numbers
Kalmar FF used our platform for scouting and evaluation, then asked us to add something event data cannot see. Who the player is off the pitch.
Kalmar FF had been working in the platform for a while before September 2021, when the club extended the agreement. The daily work was familiar. Opponent analysis ahead of matches, tracking how their own players developed, and searching for recruits across the leagues we cover.
The extension added personality profiling to the scouting workflow. We built it together with a recruitment firm that assesses how an individual affects a group. The idea is simple to state and hard to do. A midfielder's passing numbers say nothing about how he behaves in a dressing room after three straight losses. Putting a quantified personality profile next to the performance data gives the sporting director both halves of the picture in one place.
We were open about the trade-off. Personality data is sensitive, and we said so publicly when the extension was announced. We still think the upside for a club that recruits carefully is large.
The partnership with Playmaker AI is already an important part of that work. With their development of a new tool for evaluating group dynamics together with personal profiling, we get a better basis for accuracy in our scouting.
We care about personal integrity, but we see the enormous benefit and potential for clubs in understanding the interplay between hard and soft values.
